Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) achieved a historic milestone in 2024 by welcoming over 40.73 million passengers, a significant leap from 37.2 million in 2023.
This remarkable accomplishment also highlights the operational efficiency and capacity of Indian carriers to cater to such a high volume of passengers while maintaining service quality. Industry experts believe that this record signals a new era for Indian aviation, further solidifying its position as one of the fastest-growing aviation markets globally.
This accomplishment marks BLR Airport's elevation to a 'Large Airport' category globally, as per Airports Council International standards.
In the cargo segment, BLR Airport processed 496,227 metric tons (MT) in 2024, reflecting a 17% growth from the previous year. July 11, 2024, marked the highest single-day cargo volume of 1,884 MT. The airport retained its top position in India's perishable exports, with significant growth in mango and rose stem exports.
As BLR Airport continues to expand its network and services, it solidifies its role as a pivotal gateway for passengers and trade in the South.
